About Us

Divyangjan/ EOFC/ Barrier Free Campus

The institution offers a barrier free environment to differently-abled. It is important not only for students, scholars and academics with disabilities, but the societies they live in, as it helps to combat discrimination and promote diversity and participation. This institution has disabled friendly environment with ramp, washroom, Lift access and wheel chair facility. Assistance like counseling and equal opportunity cell for disabled are also provided by the institution. The institute aims to design its programs, administration, and activities to be accessible to the students. All the authorities of the institute are striving to extend a helping hand towards the differently abled so as to ensure the benefits of ground programs, administrations and activities. These guidelines apply to all the Institute faculty and staff. The Government of India formulated the national policy for persons with disabilities in February 2006, which deals with the educational rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. Therefore, in view of this, the institution has implemented these policies in the teaching and learning process. The college recognizes that people with disabilities are valuable human resources for the institution and seeks to create an environment that provides equal opportunities, protection of their rights, and full participation in the academic environment. The right to education focuses on the need to have an inclusive education, which means that educating students with learning difficulties and identified disabilities has the right to fulfillment of their educational needs. The institution provides equal opportunities to all students with the guidelines given by the state government.

The main objectives of the “Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1996, enacted by the Government of India on January 1, 1996, are to create a barrier-free environment for persons with disabilities and to make special provisions for the integration of persons with disabilities into the social mainstream. It requires institutions to install facilities for the benefit of people with visual impairments, as well as slopes in pavements-for easy access for wheelchair users, as well as appropriate symbols of disability and warning signals: at appropriate locations, within their financial means. In regard to non-discrimination in the built environment, provisions have been made for ramps and lifts in academic buildings, adaptation of toilets for wheelchair users and proper signage.

AISAT has formed   EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FACILITATION CELL  (EOFC )FOR THE STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES for this purpose in the campus.

OBJECTIVE

To provide a nurturing and motivating environment for students with learning disabilities to accommodate their pedagogic needs.

  • To ensure that students with disabilities get equal opportunities to explore their educational potential.
  • To improve the confidence level.

RAMPS

Differently abled people can move around safely and freely and enjoy the amenities in the built environment thanks to the barrier free environment provided by Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT). Individuals can participate in daily activities on campus without help because of the support for their independent function. Barrier free construction, design and operations are implemented.

DISABLE FRIENDLY WASHROOMS

College buildings have toilets that are accessible to people with disabilities. These restrooms have fittings and fixtures that are easy and comfortable for people with disabilities. Grab bars, a sliding door, and a non-slip surface make it simple for those with disabilities to enter.

WHEEL CHAIR

Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT) is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all its students, including differently abled students. To ensure that every student has equal opportunities to pursue their education, the college has implemented a wheelchair facility on its campus. This facility aims to enhance the mobility and independence of these students, enabling them to move around the college premises comfortably and participate in various activities without any hindrance. The college recognizes the importance of inclusivity and strives to provide a supportive and empowering environment for them, fostering their personal and academic growth. By offering wheelchair accessibility, AISAT is taking a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and ensuring that every student’s needs are catered to, regardless of their physical abilities.

LIFT ACCESS

On our campus, we have implemented lift access to ensure that students with disabilities can move between floors easily and independently. The lifts are specifically designed with wider doors and larger buttons, making them more accessible for wheelchair users or those with mobility challenges. The control panels inside the lifts are placed at appropriate heights for easy reach, and the buttons are tactile to assist students with visual impairments. In addition, audio announcements are provided to indicate the floors, offering further assistance to those with visual or sensory impairments.

These lifts are strategically located near key areas of the campus, such as academic buildings, libraries, and student services, ensuring that differently-abled students can easily access all facilities. Regular maintenance is carried out to ensure that the lifts are fully functional and available at all times, promoting an inclusive and barrier-free environment for everyone.
