Prof. Dr. Babu.T. Jose   B.E., M. Tech., Ph.D., FIGS, MISTE, MIE C. Eng.

Prof. Dr. Babu T. Jose is the Former Director of School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi. He has teaching and administrative experience of over 30 years. He formulated B. Tech. in Information Technology and Safety and Fire Engineering for the first time in India, in 1995 and in 1996 respectively. He introduced B. Tech. course in Marine Engineering in CUSAT in 1998 for the first time in Kerala. Recognizing his professional excellence Govt. of Kerala appointed him Special Officer to make recommendations for establishment of Technical University for Kerala 2005-2006.

He took B. E. from N. I. T. Warangal with Nehru Memorial Gold Medal in 1967 and M. Tech from IIT Madras in 1972. He was awarded Ph.D. from CUSAT in 1990. He has guided 10 students for Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. There are over 70 research papers in International and National Journals and Conferences including prestigious Journals in Engineering like ‘Geotechnique’, Marine Geotechnology, ASTM Testing Journal etc. to his credit. He has won two national awards for best research papers in marine geotechnology.

His ‘Log-log method for determination of preconsolidation pressure’ has been recognized by American Society for Testing Materials and referred to in several text books and journals in India and abroad.

He has been a consultant in geotechnical engineering since 1970. He has successfully developed a new foundation technique adaptable to soils of Kerala, especially soft clays along the Western coast from Konkan to Kanyakumari.

He is the author of two books published by Kerala Language Institute. He is a Fellow of Indian Geotechnical Society, New Delhi and the founder President of Indian Geotechnical Society, Cochin.

Prof. Dr. K. E. George has teaching and research experience spanning over three decades. He was serving as Professor and HoD at Cochin University of Science and Technology. Seventeen students have been awarded PhD degree under his supervision and ten students are currently working for PhD. He has over 150 publications in internationally reputed journals. He has authored a text book on Engineering Chemistry. He has done post-doctoral research in Germany and Netherlands. He has served as Chairman, Institution of Chemical Engineering, Kerala Branch and Vice Chairman, Indian Rubber Institute, Kerala Branch. He has also won Outstanding Chemical of Engineer Award
