AISAT NSS along with Ashwas Centre conducted a blood donation camp in association with Amrita Hospital, Ernakulam sponsored by HDFC bank. Our chief guest for the ceremony was Shri. Hibi Eden, MLA, Ernakulam constituency.
The inaugural ceremony was begun by the masters of the ceremony at 9:15 AM. Ms. Riya Antony NSS Volunteer Secretary started with the welcome address after which all the dignitaries lighted the lamp. Our chief guest Shri. Hibi Eden addressed the gathering with inspiring words emphasizing on the importance of the service to the nation and education. After this it was time to introduce the mobile application developed by the software development cell of AISAT.
The blood donation app is aimed at providing easy access to blood for everyone. P Anderson Britto, NSS Volunteer Secretary gave a brief description about the app enlightening everyone on the features provided by the app. The features were 1. Blood Donation- users will receive notification whenever someone needs blood, 2. Request Blood- users can search the database for people who have the required blood group and contact them directly, 3. Urgent Notifications- notifications will be sent to everyone in the database, 4. Blood Bank- the app will contain information about all the blood banks around us, making it easy for us to inquire when in need. 5. Book Camp- it will send notifications to users whenever there is a blood donation camp taking place in the city. The app was launched by Shri. Hibi Eden. The developers Ms. Anna Babu and Ms. Sandhya N Asst. Professors of AISAT were felicitated with souvenirs. Rev. Fr. Denny Mathew, Manager of AISAT presented the memento to Shri. Hibi Eden. Mr. Kevin Jose NSS Blood Secretary delivered the vote of thanks and the inaugural ceremony came to an end at 9:45 AM. Rev. Fr. Denny Mathew volunteered first by donating his blood. 82 blood units were collected from donors including staffs and students.
