ORIENTATION PROGRAM 2017

An orientation program for the newly admitted students to the batch 2017-2021 was held at AISAT from 19th-21st July 2017. The program was organized to welcome the newcomers to the exciting arena of engineering education and also to make them aware of the expanding realm of this major profession. The three day program had a wide variety of sessions. In the course of four years at AISAT, it is inevitable for a student to gain excellence in not just academics, but also in essential life skills so that he or she gets transformed into a true professional. The young aspiring minds have to be ignited to start their journey to attain their dreams of their lives and this was the true intention of this program.

During the first day, the students had an illuminating experience with well executed sessions on few relevant topics.

  • Reaffirming the quote “Safey first”, the session on ‘Road Safety’ by Mr. Jerson T. M, Jt. RTO, Muvattupuzha, discussed the crucial role of young generation in practicing and propagating road safety.
  • Learning is a never ending process and it can also be made the most exciting task with a few strokes. Assoc. Prof. Paul Ansel, Dept. of EC, AISAT brought the idea about ‘Art of Learning’ by portraying some fascinating learning techniques.
  • Being the active participants in the current tech-explosion happening around, the budding engineers could easily absorb the ideas put forward by Asst. Prof. Sebin Jose, Dept. of CSE, AISAT in his session on ‘Role of Computers in Engineering’.
  • ‘Session on Anti-Ragging’, by C. S. Mohit, Sub judge, District legal Services Authority and Mr. Shefeek. A, SI of Police, Kalamassery Police Station helped the students to get information regarding ragging issues and its legal implications and also they were assured that they will get any support from the authorities in case of any unfair experiences in campus.

The second day was engaged with sessions with focus on the academic curriculum. The first two sessions were on ‘Introduction to Engineering Drawing’, by Prof. P. P. Premachandran, Dept. of ME and ‘Role of Basic Sciences in Engineering Prof. Dr. Raju P, HOD, Dept. of ASH respectively. Asst. Prof. Tiju Baby, Dept. of EEE rendered a creative session on “Innovations in Engineering” which indeed entertained the students.  The afternoon sessions engaged by Mr. John Bony on ‘Mathematics for Engineers and Technologists’ and Asst. Prof. Dr. Arunkant A jose, Dept. of EC ‘Importance of Design and its Omnipresence in Engineering’ presented enlightening moments for the students as the topics of discussion were of real interest in engineering field.

The final day of the induction program turned out to be the most  memorable day as the fresh minds could attend  engaging sessions regarding life skills. The sessions on ‘Personality Development and leadership Qualities’ by Mr. Mathew Jacob and  ‘Healthy Mind Stays in a Healthy Body’ by Dr. Riya Jerson definitely inspired them to try hard to explore their unexplored potentials. The final session was on ‘Life Experience through Drama’ by Mr. Dias James and Mr. Manu and it literally tuned out to be the best climax session of the three day program with unique and dynamic activities.

On the whole the three day program helped the newcomers to get a fair idea about the new stream of education to which they are enrolled into and also they could themselves ignite the spirit within their fresh aspiring minds.
