Engineers are different because they have to apply scientific principles for the welfare and future of the society. The engineering career demands dedication, self-confidence and team work, so as to be successful as an engineer. “Hard work and dedication is needed for Engineers to fulfill their societal obligations” Dr. Letha ( Vice Chancellor-CUSAT) was addressing the new entrants to the engineering profession at the function “Schola Brevis-16” an induction programme for engineering students of 2016 batch, organized by Albertian Institute of Science And Technology, Kalamassery at the college campus on 29 July.

                     The function was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakal, The Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly, and patron of the institution. In his presidential address, the Archbishop pointed out the students to be wary of the pitfalls present in the digital world of today, and urged them to keep away from such distractions and deviations. He also pointed out the importance of discipline and dedication during student life, so as to achieve the goal.

                  Earlier, Prof. Dr. K.E George, Principal, welcomed the gathering, and Rev. Dr. Clement Valluvassery, Manager, outlined the vision and values of the Institution. Prof.Dr. Babu T Jose, Director, elaborated that the need of the hour is to create graduate engineers and not engineering graduates, and how the institution aims to achieve this aim.

Akshay M.R (College Union Chairman) lit the candle and led the student’s prayer which was recited by the students with lighted candles in their hand.

Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakal presented the memento to the chief guest of the day Dr. Letha (Vice Chancellor-CUSAT ) and Rev.Fr.Alex Kurishparambil honoured Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakal for gracing the occasion in spite of his busy schedule with the memento.
