ASA Kerala, the alumni society of the Association of Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) in the State, organized a two-day international convention of the South Asian Federation of the AOTS Alumni Societies (SAFAAS) on 4th and 5th October 2015.
The theme of the convention was ‘ASAs’ in the Digital World – Opportunities and Challenges’. The convention dwelt on the prospects and possibilities of human resources development, business cooperation and cultural exchanges using digital technologies. In addition to delegates from across the country, around 100 participants from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, Malaysia and Sudan attended the convention.
On 5th October, the Prize Distribution Ceremony of GIJUTSU-15 was held at Nippon Kerala Centre, Kalamassery. GIJUTSU-15, All Kerala Project Competition for Engineering Students, was held on 26th June 2015 and was organized jointly by ASA Kerala and AISAT Kalamassery. 15 Teams of students selected from colleges all across Kerala participated in the Event and projects in various engineering disciplines were presented. AWH College, Kuttikkattoor had won the First Prize for their project ‘AYIN’, a smart wearable device that helps to control all other digital devices in the world such as pc, tabs and smartphones. Sahrdaya College, Kodakara and St. Joseph’s College Pala had won the Second and Third Prizes respectively. The total prize money worth Rs. 50,000/- was awarded on 5th October in the presence of HIDA – Japan senior managing director Sadao Takeda and Japan External Trade Organization – Chennai chief director Hidehiro Ishiura. Mr. Roy Varghese and Mr. Jeswin Roy Dcouth, Asst. Professors represented AISAT in this event.
