FLAME with the support of Mechanical Engineering Department organized a Technical talk about Natural Gas on 14th February 2014 in the seminar Hall at 3PM. The event was coordinated by Cibel (S4 ME), Prof. Jose Mathew and Prof. Arackal Jose. Mr Tony Mathew, Chief Manager, Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL), Kochi gave an inspirational speech on how to utilize Natural Gas as an excellent energy resource. He narrated a comparative study of LPG and Natural Gas, Safety precautions during handling of Natural Gas, Sources of Gas, Exploration and Production, Transportation and Refining of Gas etc. He outlined the various constructions, laying, testing and commissioning of Pipelines. He stressed on the main welding processes and gave a brief idea about ongoing pipeline projects in Kerala. The benefit of having City Gas distribution, CNG vehicles for transportation and Gas supply for many Industries across the state of Kerala was emphasized. The occasion was graced with the presence of Rev.Fr. Clement Valluvassery. Prof Dr. K.E.George, Principal AISAT welcomed the gathering and Dr. George Sleeba conveyed the vote of thanks.
