Avanza’14 – Inspiring Lives in Civil Engineering

 

 

The Inauguration of Avanza’14 – Inspiring Lives in Civil Engineering was held in the Seminar hall on 15th of February. Prof. Dr.K.E.George, Principal AISAT, welcomed the gathering. Rev.Dr.Clement Valluvassery, Manager AISAT, in his Presidential Address congratulated the hard work behind the crafting of such a program. Such a technical scenario of interaction will aid the budding engineer’s to dream big, he quoted in his speech. He also acknowledged the Chief Guest Shri.Antony Kunnel, Managing Director,Kunnel Constructions, for being a part of this wonderful moment. Shri.Antony Kunnel in his Inaugural address congratulated all the budding civil engineer’s for opting the very profession. He also added that civil engineers have a major role in building up our nation as well as society. This concept of Inspiring lives in civil engineering is a vibrant and most inspiring topic and he hoped that it would boost up the young bloods along their ways. Prof Dr.Babu T.Jose , Director,AISAT and the master brain behind the Avanza in his speech wished that it would be a great success and inspiration for young engineers. The proceedings CD was released in the gathering by Shri. Antony Kunnel handing it over to Rev.Fr.Alex Kurishuparambil ,Associate Manager AISAT. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof.Anitha.G.Pillai,HOD Dept. of Civil Engineering.

After the inaugural ceremony the first round of presentations took place as three parallel sessions. 18 papers were presented in the forenoon session. 1.30 onwards the second round of presentations, of 6 best papers, 2 selected from each hall, was held at the seminar Hall. First Prize was bagged by Mr. Subrahmaniam M.J, Vivek J.M, Dr.Vinod.P from CET, Trivandrum with a cash prize Rs.10000. Mr.Aswin Baby,Merin Varghese & Ajitha B.Bhaskar, CET,won the second prize of Rs.5000. Ms. Ruth Abey George, Alan B.Alex from AISAT won the third prize worth Rs.3000.The valedictory function started at around 3.00pm.
